Best Laid Plans

What’s the saying about Murphy’s Law? If something can go wrong it probably will. That certainly wraps up this week in a nutshell. It’s been a domino effect, with one thing after another not going as planned.

Long story short, we are still in our house, and there are currently wires still hanging from the ceiling in the condo. Thankfully we have the flexibility to accommodate this unexpected delay. The condo is going to look beautiful once completed……well, at least most of it will. The kitchen is going to be another story, and now that there is amazing lighting in there, we won’t be able to ignore it. I’m sure eventually a kitchen remodel is going to become necessary, but for now it will have to do.

The last few days have been extremely stressful. Having to stay in the house a few extra days created some issue. I had packed everything. I had to scramble to find towels. We are down to our last roll of toilet paper this morning, and my husband has no underwear, because he doesn’t listen to me. Well, that’s probably not true. It’s more to do with him procrastinating. He was supposed to transfer the clothes from his dresser into the suitcase I provided before the movers came, but he didn’t.....and then the movers packed it into the furthest corner of the storage. In any case, we'll get by for the next few days.

Thankfully my husband was able to get our internet service here extended a couple days even though we technically already transferred it to the condo. As luck would have it, I’m in the middle of a real estate negotiation and having internet access is vital. I should have expected it, because it seems like every time I have some kind of issue pop up on a transaction, I’m in the middle of Timbuktu and have to scramble to find internet so I can resolve it. It’s Murphy’s Law.

I’m tired. I haven’t been sleeping well, so this morning I have a headache on top of everything else. We have a busy day planned, lugging all the odds and ends over to the condo. We have contractors coming to the house today to make any needed repairs, and plants are being dispersed to various friends. The movers are coming back tomorrow to finish up whatever is left, which should mostly be the bigger items, and then the cleaners are coming in. I’m hoping we can finish out the week without anymore snags, otherwise me and Murph are going to have some words.
